Patients, service-users, carers and the wider public are a key partner in the development of the local STP and we were delighted that the public events held in early 2017 were so well attended.
The events were held at the Nottingham Forest football ground, Newark Town Hall, Mansfield Library and the Council House in the City Centre.
The sessions were introduced and facilitated by Michelle Livingston, Chair of Healthwatch Nottinghamshire, an independent partner and champion of patients and their views.
Following a presentation from David Pearson (Dawn Smith at the City event), STP lead for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire people broke into smaller groups to discuss the five priority areas outlined in the Plan and any additional themes they felt should be given new or additional consideration as the Plan is developed.
Each public event included a question and answer session where attendees could put their queries and concerns to a panel of representatives from STP partner organisations including local clinical commissioning groups, hospital trusts and the local authority as well as community and mental health providers.
Two additional events were held for those working in the community and voluntary sector. More than 80 representatives from local not-for-profit organisations gave feedback on the plan and discussed the role of the sector in supporting people to manage their own health and remain as independent as possible.
All feedback from the events and from direct contacts from the public and stakeholders has been collated. This will published in June 2017 so people can see how their feedback has helped shape the development of the local STP.
